THE SITUATION: Hurricane Harvey devastated Rose City, Texas, a community where 99% of homes were submerged . Months after the storm, many residents — including retirees and veterans — remained displaced and without financial assistance. Despite billions raised for disaster relief, the town received virtually no support from FEMA or major aid organizations. With all the negativity and division going on today—I’m really excited to bring you guys in on a new CAN-DO.ORG Community Unification Project that we’ve been working on. We’re building/setting up a new community center equipped with a MMA (mixed martial arts) fitness gym in South Central LA — run by an amazing group of local leaders who have been through hell and back & are now true mentors, role models & trainers giving youth a new a opportunity vs. the streets.
