CAN-DO just completed one of its most groundbreaking projects in Haiti — a fully functional medical clinic built in just 72 hours. Thanks to a powerful collaboration between CAN-DO, Creative Composite Solutions (CCS), and a team of local Haitians, this structure now stands as Haiti’s first earthquake-, hurricane-, and water-resistant facility of its kind since the January 12, 2010 quake.

Constructed on a platform provided by Architecture for Humanity, the clinic was completed at lightning speed and is already in use as the J/P HRO Women’s Clinic — a critical lifeline for women who have endured months without access to reliable medical care.

Why this matters:Six months after the earthquake, countless Haitians are still living under tarps and cardboard. With hurricane season underway, the lack of safe shelter is pushing vulnerable communities into even deeper danger. CAN-DO’s mission is to change that — bringing in environmentally friendly, prefabricated structures that provide durable, permanent solutions that can withstand Haiti’s harsh weather.

This project was possible thanks to an in-kind donation from CCS and the support of a generous donor who believes in CAN-DO’s “no red tape” model — a model built on speed, accountability, and results on the ground.

CCS’s Francis Meram put it best:“CAN-DO was the perfect partner. They know the terrain, they know the people, and they move fast. No bureaucracy. No excuses.”

The future is even brighter: With these new skills, tools, and systems in place, CAN-DO plans to train and employ local Haitians to build more clinics, homes, and community centers throughout the country — making Haitians 99% of the labor force from management to skilled trades. Sustainability isn’t a buzzword here — it’s the blueprint.

As CAN-DO founder Eric Klein says:“It’s been six months. Look at the money that came into Haiti, then look at the results — they don’t add up. Donors should demand transparency and real outcomes. No more excuses.”

CAN-DO and its partners will continue working alongside the Haitian people to build structures, skills, and long-term stability — one project at a time.
