HAITI February 18, 2010- 4:32 a.m. pouring rain here - first serious rain fall we have had here in Haiti since the quake - there are hundreds of thousands of people sleeping under cardboard and sheets - just walked down the street to a one of the tent villages to check it out and it is by far one of the craziest things I have ever seen - I know a lot of people are past the Haiti quake but nothing has changed out here since Jan 12th - it actually got a whole hell of a lot worse - don't mean to be a "downer" but just want people to know just because the cameras pulled out doesn't mean things are getting back to normal - 1-month later and not only are there no tents/shelter out here but there is little to no food or water getting out either - anyway, sorry guys needed to let people know that Haitians living in those camps, new borns, elderly, people that were just released frm the hospital etc, etc are in hell right now - and its been raining for 7 hrs straight - EK

HAITI February 17, 2010- 3:12 p.m. Pic of the 2 families we moved in today- One family is the 2 little boys we pulled off the the street 3wks ago...they have been upgraded to a beautiful upper class home in Dalmar along with Kimberly (the little girl Dr Sanjay performed brain surgery on a while back) and her family... Check the story out tmrw on CNN - EK

HAITI February 10, 2010- 1:32 p.m. Second camp assessment: Aviation Camp/Dalmas #2/Cite's Soiel. We are setting up water drops here at what is hailed as one of the most dangerous camps due to gang activity. Through these assessments and distributions, we will show that proper assessment can be done because of the set up of the camp. The camp is gated with one door to enter and exit so we are going to give this a shot in an hour, first with the distribution of water then move onto food. We are working with community now to organize this efficiently and effectively. We will continue to keep you updated. From the field, EK

HAITI February 08, 2010- 9:45 p.m. Rue Egalite', Aquin(village) drop went very successful - We dropped for Franciscan Missionaries which is without a doubt the most organized group I have come across in Haiti - Sister Martha Ann our of Baton Rouge, LA, Sister Marie Agnes and Reverend Pe're Gousse Oremil have set up an incredibly run "displacement camp" for 250 + families - because there is an influx of earthquake survivors migrating to this camp they desperately need help - If people want to get behind an AMAZING project please contact Sister Martha Ann (I need to ask permission to post her contact info) - but I can tell you that your money/donations will surely make an impact - or if people want to donate via CAN-DO.org and specify on the donation "Franciscan Missionaries" I will make sure the entire amount goes directly to them - either way I will post her info shortly - thank you for your support- today was a good day! Thank u CAN-DO Team for your coordination back home! NICE work!!! - EK

HAITI January 30, 2010- 5:30 p.m.- UPDATE - ERIC KLEIN - LIVE on KNBC CHANNEL 4 LOS ANGELES TONIGHT AT 6PM PST

HAITI January 30, 2010- 4:14 p.m.- We just finished our last drop of the day - we started at the "House of the Patient" Orphanage and right across the street was a 2nd orphanage- so we dropped aprxtly 600 gallons of water between the two. Both of these orphanages have seen no water, food etc since the quake- we then did 2 more drops in Calrfoufeille - same situation everywhere - nothing getting out to the people - video updates coming soon -thx! EK

HAITI January 30, 2010- 1:27 p.m.- Original Post "Hi guys, quick update on the kids, I don't want to drop the kids off at a random house until we can make sure there is food and they will be secure so we feel better keeping them with us for another day- with the hotel and food costs it will be 210.00, any help is greatly apprecieated." - Response : within 2 hours, separate donors stepped up and took care of these expenses. Thanks go out to John C. Beck, Monica Ord, and Jeane Bauer for the quick response, and chance to show people how effective direct action can be. - thx - EK

HAITI January 29, 2010- 4:45 p.m.- WE GOT THEM!!! Safe and sound and on their way to be reuinited with their dad.

HAITI January 29, 2010- 4:45 p.m.- Eric will be going on KNBC NEWS LOS ANGELES 5pm today, Friday, 01/29

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HAITI January 28, 2010- 10:22 p.m.- Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell : We're confused and outraged. You have been donating to the relief effort in Haiti, so have we... but we keep hearing reports of supplies and food that is simply sitting in holding areas, NOT getting out to the people who need it! Why? We're going to talk to Eric Klein, the founder of can-do.org to get to the bottom of this and find out how to make sure our aid gets to those who really need it now!

HAITI January 28, 2010- 7:58 p.m.- The LIVE broadcast from the field on HLN (Headline News) tonight is being postponed due to technical difficulties - Broadcast is scheduled to air at 7:24 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, 1/29/10. They will also be showing some of the video CAN-DO has been compiling, and currently getting ready to post on this site by later tonight. - CAN-DO TEAM

HAITI January 28, 2010- 6:53 a.m.- Erik Klein will be LIVE from the field later today on HLN (Headline News) during the show 'Issues With Jane Velez-Mitchell' - Broadcast is scheduled to air at 7:24 p.m. - CAN-DO TEAM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HAITI January 26, 2010- 4:55 p.m.- We just left General Hospital and distributed some MUCH needed medical supplies- thanks to Sidney Torrez and the CAN-DO Team back in the states- the hospital is having several births a day and a lot of the supply was ironically exactly what they were needing!! So they were very ecstatic when we rolled in with our truck - we divide the supply inventory into 1/3 and will be dropping a two other locations- please keep those supplies coming and we will continue to get them on streets and the hospitals - Will keep you posted - and should have some vids out tonight to show the impact you guys are all making here in Haiti- thank you!! - EK

HAITI January 26, 2010- 12:55 p.m.- heading back to General Hospital(HUEH) and Hospital De La Comminaule (the hospital near the old folks home) - continuing to drop supplies from yesterday's plane delivery of medical supplies- Thank you Sidney! Also, thank you North Face for your donations and everyone else that has been supporting Project Haiti - EK

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HAITI January 25, 2010- 2:53 p.m.- LIVE On Air interview with Eric from a rooftop near downtown Port Au Prince aired on CNBC. Highlights of the piece include U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton commenting on the 5 to 10 year commitment necessary to effectively rebuild Haiti. In regards to the responsibility of it all, she directly states the need for donated money and goods to be appropriated "transparently and with results on the ground for the Haitian people." CAN-DO introduces the terminology of 'the Donation Black Hole' phenomenon, whereby funds are donated and immediately lost track of by the donor. CAN-DO urges NGO's to "step up" their efforts toward accountability. watch video above.

HAITI January 25, 2010- 8:53 a.m.- We just picked up shipment of medical supplies sent by our partner, SDT- loading trucks now will be on the street in one hour - supplies are scheduled for General Hospital(HUEH), Kings Hospital and a two other drop locations - supplies include: 4 self contained emergency triage beds, antibiotics, syringes, vac foam dressings, antimicrobial silver island dressing, antibiotic bone cement, 300ml cantisters, topper dressing sponges and the list goes on. Once we finish up drops - we will be heading to Carrefour to find two boys, 7 and 11 years old, these children are US citizens alone on the streets with a cell phone - they have been contacting there father back in the US - they have been living on the streets for 13 days - we will be rounding them up before dark and taking them to the Hope For Haiti Camp where we will arrange to get them out of Haiti and back with their Dad. thx u, Monica Ord, for the lead - will keep u posted - EK

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HAITI January 22, 2010- 9:55 p.m.- Musician Lenny Kravitz, Cindy Crawford and her husband Randy Gerber are helping in the effort to send a cargo plane to Haiti with medical supplies. Kravitz, a longtime friend of Sidney Torres, is helping us with the many logistics involved in securing supplies and clearing the way for entry into Haiti. The first flight leaves on Sunday. The first triage stations arrived today. We are picking them and will begin loading the plane. The supplies were given to us by our partner, the Franciscan Missionaries.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HAITI January 22, 2010- 6:24 p.m.- Besides the NGO's being non existent out here - the trouble is diesel(gas) to power the trucks (which we now have over 20+) Today, we put the word out and after some networking we just got 30,000 gallons of diesel donated!! A huge Thank you to all our donors and in particular to Ron and Marlys Boehm for their incredibly generous(and FAST) donation and for facilitating the gas delivery. This will keep us in operation and our trucks on the streets for over a month, maybe two months, doing supply drops, water drops and medical drops to the hospitals(got 2 scheduled for tomorrow - General Hospital and Kings Hospital) Starting tmrw we should be fully operational- we will also be pushing out 100,000g of purified water a day with a Haitian run water company out here - I supply the diesel he supplies the water - today was a good day! We are heading out right now to a night water drop of 30,000gallons + to a camp by the capital that have yet to receive anything in 10 days - NGO's NEED to start stepping up!!! Will keep you posted-thx u! - EK -

HAITI January 22, 2010- 12:32 p.m.- Just got another shipment picked up at St. Bernard's Parish,LA on the way to airport hanger - also, we are stock piling fuel for our trucks, waiting on delivery of 3,000 gallons now - Hard to get fuel but we now have direct line to oil co thanks to Chevron - we will be heading to airport soon as we fuel trucks - goal today is to hit 3 hospitals and continue water drops - will advise - EK -

HAITI January 22, 2010- 8:04 a.m.- Eric will not be able to complete the video update due to ANOTHER aftershock!!! He will get it up as soon possible. We will keep you updated with any further news. THE CAN-DO TEAM -

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HAITI January 21, 2010- 1:53 p.m.- Picking up diesel and working on 2nd medical/supply pick up from airport- had another small quake about 1hr ago-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HAITI January 20, 2010- 10:21 p.m.- Just got back to home base -will be at it again tomorrow- thank you guys for all your support! I get every fb comment the second it posts while I'm out here in the field and it is your support that is really keep me going - so thank you so much! Keep the positive energy coming and I will have video up very soon- everything I am updating you guys about and posting I am documenting... so you will be seeing the videos which I will start posting daily so you can see your donations and support at work- thx again guys!! Ps.....she is still in labor... Before I left for the night I have to change out the batteries and re-duct tape the flashlights in the trees so the doctors could continue to work on her.... Think about that...they are delivering babies and operating with flash lights... Goodnight. EK

HAITI January 20, 2010- 8:35 p.m.- EK IS HELPING TO DELIVER A BABY RIGHT NOW!!!! CAN-DO TEAM

HAITI January 20, 2010- We just picked up MEDICAL supplies from Airline Ambassadors and are in the trucks now on our way to distribute with them now - working together we are saving lives!! thx, EK

HAITI January 20, 2010- we just set up 5th supply/water drop - Haitian's are taking control - very organized and wanting to help themselves- they are sick of waiting - they are making lists of how many people, what the basic needs and organizing their neighborhoods -EK-

HAITI January 20, 2010- we are currently in transit to airport to pick up medical supplies to take to general hospital (HUEH) - I just left the hospital- they moved everyone outside in the sun because of today's quake - when the sun goes down they are operating with flash lights- they need supplies !!! They are giving people aspirin as pain killers!- we will be at the hospital in 15 mins to pick up supplies from united plane that landed 20 mins ago medical supplies- we have not got clearance yet - will keep u posted- EK-

HAITI January 20, 2010- Outside plaza now with CNN. Will be going live soon- woke to a 6.1 - shook us out of bed and into the streets - lost 50 ft of my wall to my base camp- CNN and other journalists jumped frm 2nd story - one in very serious condition- they are working on him now- currently I am doing ground assessments and setting up logistics for distribution- partnered w a Haitian based water co. -we are working on fuel to pump out 100,000 gallons a day - need more diesel! - I supply the gas for the trucks, and they give free purified water - great system- we have distributed 60,000 today and yesterday - working on gas now -trucking it in from Dominican Republic-have not seen one red cross vehicle, world vision etc etc - actually not one big NGO that keeps asking you guys for money - no accountability with these crooks-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HAITI January 19, 2010- One phone call- 30 minutes later 30,000 gallons of purified CLEAN drinking water distributed- with no problems and no bs(red tape) - and something else important to remember, it was a Haitian based company - the same company we are all working with- same company we are trying to raise the fuel for- you guys can make this happen- are making it happen! -Thank you from Haiti!

HAITI January 19, 2010- I am cruising around in a 1200 gallon water truck - with a local here that has an operation (where I am staying) they have 17 trucks that can do 100,000 gallons of purified water A DAY - I have seen the operation it's real and it's legit- he needs desiel - need 10,000 gallons to make it happen/5,000 would do for now - I have documented it all to show anyone who can help back in the states or here in HAITI this can happen if someone supplies us the fuel - once we have the fuel, once we have the fuel, we can but fully operational within 8 hours - if there are ANY NGO's here that are in the business of setting up wells, please contact me at ek@can-do.org!!!!!!! It's really bad out here - thx! EK

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Polaroid of Haitian Street

HAITI January 18, 2010- All good- not much sleep- heading out down into Delmas neighbourhood (5-10miles from airport) - so far, we have established 1 POD (point of distribution) outside the house where we are staying- just so those of you checking in know, the plan here is- we are setting up or identifying distribution points as we go along for our return in February (this info will also be passed along to other orgs/ngos coming in)- the reason for this is so we can feed these "PODS" with supplies coming in from the nearby airport- will advise- THX

HAITI January 18, 2010- Just left St Louis High school - (completely demolished) - 1500-2000 people surviving in make shift tents - this would be the most ideal place for distribution of goods and medical services - close to the airport, easier to set up and manage - only thing coming in is water- which tends to cause small riots because there is NOT enough of it - people just trying to survive - please contact North Face - or any sporting good co for tents!! we are in process of setting up logistics for receiving goods. will update accordingly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HAITI January 17, 2010-11:30 PM- If people can please spread the word, or if you have contacts- PLEASE USE THEM- they desperately need the biggest triage tents they make or mobile operating units that can be brought over on the barges(they r deftly out there, we have seen them in the past)-They r turning people away from the hospitals because they r at total capacity - we r tying to set up makeshift field hospitals- we also will need the equipment to run them successfully- generators, mobile ac units, water tanks, anesthesia/oxygen tanks, auto clavs etc to make them operational-(the right people that u reach out to will know what it will take to make this happen) -there is obviously a need for everything out here.... How You Can Help

Supplies, tents, and mobile operating units can be sent over on the barges. We need the necessary medical equipment to supply these makeshift field hospitals: generators, mobile A/C units, water tanks, anesthesia, oxygen tanks, medicines. These supplies and funding for these supplies are needed now -it is an absolute critical necessity. Take action. Spread the word. Mobilize. Donate. We need it. Please do whatever you can to help us get medical attention to earthquake survivors.

I will continue to keep this updated and will alert you to developments. I can not express the extent of the devastation. It is urgent that we do this. Thank you for your support. We can't do it without you.

From the field,

-Eric Klein
